My guess would be somewhere between 7-9 pounds, you might email Joe, he is a great guy to work with.

Odd?

It's a very "standard" late 19th-early 20th century camera... and 14x17 is also a rather standard size...

I agree it's rather big, but much lighter than modern cameras in the same size range, since it doesn't have all the hardware that allows for movements...

This particular item seems to be in very good condition, it will make someone very happy...

I'm not sure if this is appropriate.

I was in the auction house in the hopes of getting a buy on this very camera. I know how much the camera sold for and I also happen to know a little item which the seller left out of the Ebay listing.

E mail me if you want to learn more if this is notice is appropriate in nature.

i've bought cameras and lenses from *jay* tepper over the years.
he seems like a nice guy, with nice-stuff and a bullet proof return policy - don't like it, for any reason, full refund no questions asked. i've returned cameras and lenses and he returned the $$ as he said, no questions asked

The camera itself is in terrific shape. Only slight wear on the corners of the bellows, I believe them to be light tight/ Wood is terrific, operation is smooth for such a light weigh camera. Not sure exact weight, but certainly less than a Korona.

Comes with a carrying case of its own. However, those beautiful looking holders are "wet plate" holders, and I'm told not easy to modify to accommodate sheet film.

If you want to know the auction sale price you will have to e mail me at steve@steve-sherman.com

Happy bidding.

I haven't seen the camera in person, but those holders look like double-sided dry-plate holders not wet-plate, which are almost always rear-loading and single-sided.

You might want to Email the seller to verify, but I am also pretty sure that those are regular cut film holders but what mfg I can't tell. That is definetly a plus as you might have to wait several months to find or have holders made for that format.

I already have one of these exact cameras, but mine is not nearly as nice. I really love the design, (and it's the only other example I've seen) which is why I'm willing to pay the price for this beast. It's a really functional, compact and lightweight design (considering the format) - weighs in at about 18 lbs. I have additional info from the seller, and the bellows really needs to be replaced. They are literally starting to come apart at the seams.

If I get this one, I'm going to use this one for film and the other for wet plate... The holders are unique to the Anthony and Scovill camera. They are not a standard design in terms of how they fit into the camera - and yes, these are dry plate holders that are easily converted for film use. I've done that with the holders I have from the first one I bought.

Anyway, we'll see what happens. I expect I will get sniped...

Bummer. I was watching the end.

But, this thread reminded me that I have three 14x17 plate holders stored around here somewhere. They are book type, double-sided, and a bit scarred but might be restorable with new darkslide material. Would these be the Anthony style? If they are something you could use, let me know and I'll see if I can find them. I'd like to keep one since I might build a 14x17 some day for wetplate myself, but I'm sure we could work something out on the other two.

Later that same evening...
Found 'em. The wood measures 16 3/16" wide, 19 1/4" long, and 1" thick. No maker's identification on them. Two are in pretty decent shape and are probably usable as is.

Lemme know...

Joe,

Well, I got sniped... as I expected. I just didn't want to bid any higher on that camera. I bought mine w/3 holders 4 years ago for $1,500.

Anyway, regarding the holders - No, the Anthony holders I have are not the book-type. And I have the 3 that came with my camera and 5 or 6 S&S holders, so I'm set.

Thanks anyway!
