Check out film. Disfarmer. Who knew?

found this by accident when finding stuff for my house bound students

My pleasure. Hope you enjoy.

am well and working to stay that way. But sometimes am bored. This too shall pass

I'll watch the Disfarmer in a bit. Also on Amazon Prime, a documentary about Pedro E. Guerrero, from Mesa Arizona. He photographed for Frank Lloyd Wright in the 30s, and maybe later, I'm about 1/3 way into this one.

I saw that 1-2 year ago.
It was very interesting.
He had quite a "Successful" career.

They have quite a few. Which I will be suggesting to my students
There is Ida which is fabulous, but cost to rent, unless you sign up some service, but there is free trial

who ever did the film must have a still film background as the composition reflects that kind of background

My pleasure

If I am kept in by the Social Isolation and I see something on the internet that I was not going to buy but it was on sale so I bought it anyway, am I actually saving money?

Hard to say how many movies do you see a month or week at what price

for my students I try to find free as much as possible

Wow. It was free and available earlier , and I just checked and it up and running.

When I click on that link I get a message+that indicates a different country

I googled it instead of searching directly on Amazon, and it must have given me a link from outside the USA. Going to Amazon and then searching fixed it.

Thanks!

No problem glad to help

well not a prime member but found this: is it the same?
Disfarmer Portrait of America

I'm going to go in a different direction here. I was born in a small Southern town, as were my parents, grandparents, great-grandparents etc. Parts of the documentary were excellent. My Grandparents told me stories about going to town, a different town and a different photographer, to get their photo made during the depression. It was entertainment with a product at the end.

Then we went from the photos or interviews with people who were there, to the opinions of art critics and interpretations that seek to invalidate the stories of those who were there as some sort of collective delusion. The fact is that sometimes, more often than not, when many people tell you the same thing, it's because that thing is true.

These are valuable portraits, not because someone is willing to pay $20,000 for a print, but because they capture a moment. But it is interesting that 25 cents of 1935 entainment sells for $20,000 or more in New York.

The Pedro E. Guerrero documentary was excellent. His career went from working for Wright to running a photo unit in the Army, to Madison Avenue, to documenting artists.

I don’t understand going in a different direction.

I was just suggesting this movie as a point/of interest. My students are watching it and we shall see their reaction on wed viacemail

the next assignment for them is the Guerrero film

"Seeing Daylight: The Photography Of Dorothy Bohm" is an excellent doc. It's on Prime.

Thanks I will check it out
