No, Mr. Serrao, there is no contradiction at all.
It is right that the film was first introduced as Silvermax. But that does not change the fact that this film is a real Scala technology film.
The reason why it was first introduced under that name is simply, that at that time we had not yet the rights to use the Scala brand name. As soon as we had got the Scala name rights we offered the film under its 'original' name, too.
The whole topic of the former Agfa name rights is a quite complicated one. For a similar reason we had to offer the original Rodinal developer als "Adonal" for some years. And when we got the Rodinal name right we immediately offered the original recipe under its original name Rodinal.

Yes.
For a better understanding:
The original Agfa APX 100 (Made in Germany, Leverkusen factory) and Agfa Scala 200X had been "twins". Both have shared basically the same emulsion, but for Scala 200X the emulsion was optimised for reversal processing and had a higher silver content. And in addition Scala 200X was coated on a clear triacetate base.
ADOX Scala 160 / Silvermax is based on the Agfa Scala 200X, but with a bit finer grain and about 1/3 stop less sensitivity.

Hello, if I recall correctly, you had said in the past that whatever Silvermax/Scala you made was with materials from the old Agfa plant, which are now all used. I suspect that there's not a lot left of these films. So, are there any plans to make a new batch, even if at a higher price point?

@Anon Ymous:
Currently we still have stock of Scala 160 and Silvermax. And based on current demand we probably will have at least for 2020.
ADOX remains fully committed to BW reversal film and our Scala line. We have currently two BW reversal films - Scala 50 and Scala 160 - and we will have two also in the mid term, and at least two in the long term. For medium speed we have a mid-term solution almost finished, and another long-term solution is also in the works.

Are your coating lines in Germany and Switzerland running or ready to run?

Oooh...I pushed Fomapan 400 for the first time this weekend. I thought I'd give it a try at my local jazz/blues club where I usually use 35mm HP5+ pushed to 1600 or 3200 or Delta 3200 in 120. I shot Fomapan 400 in my Zeiss-Ikon folding 520/16 and developed for 19 minutes with inversions every minute and some swirling in ID-11 stock. The results were very good, in 120 the grain is manageable and the contrast isn't too bad at all.
