I just mixed up a gallon of Acfine and Repenslisher that I had on hand and bought a quart kit Diafine I found on Ebay. I developed a roll of Foma developed in Diafine, a roll of Artitsa Pan 100 developed in Acufine. I was able to compare the Foma 400 in Diafine to roll of Foma 400 I had developed in MCM 100. As Diafine increases film speed I shot the Foma at box speed of 400. The ArtistaPan 100 had shot at 80 when developed in HC 110 so I shot it at box speed. All prints are straight, printed on mystery VC paper with grade 2 filter. These are low quality scans, on my list is to upgrade my scanner.

The shot of the runner with the American Flag was developed in Diafine, it is heavily back lighted, it was grab shot taken with a Minolta 9 in matrix mode 28 to 100 D Minolta zoom. I developed in Clayton print developer, but the figures are poorly rendered as they are underexposed, there is little if any separation between the black shorts and shirts. Grain is larger than I would have thought, as Foma 400 resolves at 80LPM it shows. On the other hand same roll still in matrix metering the view along the waterfront is passable. Gain is OK, lack of detail does show as much. The picture taken with ArtisaPan, movie or recon film? It was taken with a Minolta 800si, Sony 50mm 2.8 Macro lens, orange filter. It was developed in Acufine stock, 4 minutes., 68F. I have little information about Arista Pan, no data sheet I could find. Although very dense with a long printing time it prints well. The last print was made from a Foma 400 negative shot at 320 with Minolta 800 Si and 35 to 70 F4 1st generation Minolta zoom, no filter then developed in replenished MCM 100. I think the grain is quite good, contrast if fine, hold shadow details, best developer I have tired with Foma 400.

I think Diafine has potential depending on the shot, good lighting, but I may need to shot at 240 for Zone I and Zone II separation. I only have a few rolls of Foma 400 in 35mm but a few boxes of 4X5. MCM has just too expensive at around a $80 a gallon.

Just tested both Artistapan 100 rated 200 and Foma 400 rated at 320 in Diafine. Same store front, open shade, different days, camera Minolta 9, matrix metering. I used a Minolta 28 2.8 mount for the Artistapan with Foma I shot with a Sigma 50 2.8 macro. Different morning about same day, just different angles of view. Pritned on Androma paper, not sure who makes it, grade 2 filter, developed 2 minutes in Clayton print developer 1:9.

What I do notice is that Aristapan does not have an anti halogen layer, Although not listed on the Foma data sheet there is an anti halgone layer, not the dyes used in MF and LF film but a layer in the film. Grain and detail look about the same, but would give a nod to Foma, details in the eye lashes. Tones look to be similar, Of the two I will contiuew ith Foma 400 at 320 developed in Diafine or HC 110.

The scans were imported darker than they look on my monitor.

I expect that you mean "anti-halation".

Yep, my bad. I rely on autocorrect way too much.

Understood!
I'm intrigued that auto-correct actually chose a photography related incorrect word 😲 .
Perhaps it is actually getting smarter.
