Just a simple question - What EI do people rate Foma 200 at?

I have shot 2 rolls of it recently and have come up with quite thin negatives. I have been rating it at around EI 150 and developing in both D76 1:1 for 10 minutes (agitate 10 secs every minute) and Rodinal 1:50 for 10 minutes also (agitate first minute and then 2 slow agitations every minute).

In the past, I shot the Old Foma (which was on a different base) and was very fond of it. Back then, I was souping in Rodinal 1:50 for 10 minutes.

In pryo-HD and 510 pyro I rate both the 35mm and 120 at 125. the film has really grown on me and I've come to really like the tonality it gives, especially in a tanning or staining developer. Also good in XTOL replenished at 125 or 160 depending on the light

100 ISO in Rodinal 1+50, agitate first 30 secs & 10 secs every minute. 4 inversions in 10 seconds.

Michael, what is your total dev time? 10 Minutes? Would this also be applicable for 120 and 4x5?

9.5 mins, this was 4x5 processing one sheet at a time in a Paterson tank. Haven't used it in 35mm or 120.

I have been trying out Fomapan 200 recently, as a change from my usual Fomapan 400, and quite like it, I rate it at 200, and develop it in both D76 stock, for 8 minutes, agitate for first 30 seconds then 10 seconds every minute, and for between 11 and 14 minutes in Rodinal 1/50, depending on the light/subject, but mainly 11 minutes, agitate for first minute and 5 seconds every 30 seconds, and am getting great results,

I used to rate it at 160 because I "read it on the internet" but I discovered I get by far my best results rating it at 100 (which I established by forgetting I had Foma in the camera and thinking it was Acros)

Yes, I understand that. It is interesting to see and hear what others do, as it gives you a ball park to start with.

I do find it interesting, though, that very few shoot it @ 200....

hi hoffy,

is this film you are asking about what used to be called "creativ200" ?
i rate that stuff ( when i had it ) at 100 ... and i processed it ..
in print developer for 8 mins 1:8ish @72ºF ... i dont' use a meter
and sunny 11 everything ...

If I was to develop it in the great DD-X, I'd definitely shoot it at 200.

I also used to rate it at 160, but I have since changed to 125. I haven't shot it for awhile, and will probably rate it at 100 and see if I like it better than the stuff rated at 125. I develop it in Rodinal.

I love pyrocat hd. I was wondering what your development times were, as I've never developed this film with it.

I did some simple speed tests when I first began using Fompan 100 & 200, I shoot both at half their box speeds and process in Pyrocat HD 1+1+50 for 9 mins @ 20ºC inversion agitation (normal contrast situations).

In 35mm, I rate it at 125. Then I either use Rodinal 1:100 in semi stand for one hour (once at 30 minutes) or PMK 1:2:300 for a 30 minute semi stand (once at 15 minutes.) Both methods provide me with negatives that I love and can scan.

120 @ 125 Rodinal stand 1+100 for 60 mins at 20C Incident Weston on nose of subject - extra stop for darker complexions.
The Fomapan 100 is just as fast in 135!

I love pyrocat hd. I was wondering what your development times were, as I've never developed this film with it.

I use 1:1:100 for 11.5 min at 70. invert for 45 seconds, then invert for 10 seconds at 4 min and again at 8 min. gentle aggitation as this film builds contrast quickly. Please though, do your own testing as your results could differ from mine.
