Foma 100 in F76

The Foma 400 I shot worked beautifully in D76, but the 200 didn't seem to like it, although having never developed this film, it may have been me.

Now I have a roll of 100 and don't want to screw up the developing because there may be a few keepers on it. My developer choices are limited. There's Adox Rodinal here, along w/ R09 One Shot, and Arista Film Developer and F76, which I think are the same. Would F76 be a better choice for deep blacks than these others? I've never used any of these except for the Rodinal, and I'm hoping for something closer to Tri-X in D76 in tonality.

An ISO 100 film in medium format will accept just about any developer you can throw at it. The Fomapan 100 is a lot more similar in technical aspects to Fomapan 400 than to Fomapan 200, therefore you may just try D-76 and see what happens. Fomapan 200 is an animal of its own, it may require some experimentation.

Fomapan 100 is nice and looks good in D-76. For Rodinal my time for 120 is 1+50 for 8.5 mins at 20C. Two inversions to start, two at the start of each minute. Example https://flic.kr/p/2jYd6FH

I would suggest E-76, it's a Hydrochinon free Phenidone - Ascorbic acid version of D-76 and due to this, it actually 'floats' somewhere between that D-76 and X-Tol, I would use it at 1+1.
If you rally like to use Rodinal, then add a pinch of Borax to the work solution 1+50 to reduce some base fog which Fomapan 100 would like to show (reed Patrick Gainer for that).
BTW, FOMA has some good developers too.

Would increasing development times fix your blacks? Or would that give you new problems?

I recently tried the 100 in F76, 7 minutes at 20C. Worked very well. In D76, I use 5 minutes at 20C; this film builds contrast very quickly.

I use F76+ with Foma pan 200 in all formats, results have been good, for a Tri X look maybe Rodinal 1:50. I've only developed a few rolls of Foma 200 in Rodinal, grain is not much of an problem at 1:25 and tones are nice, saying that in my judgment not as smooth at D76 or F76.

I don't shoot Foma 100 in roll film, but it is my primary film in 8x10. I usually develop it in Pyrocat-HD or ABC Pyro, but have used HC-110 and liked the results.

I learned developing using Fomapan 100 and D76 1+1. using Foma's recommended times. I also like it in Rodinal 1+50.

I found Fomapan 200 more finicky and never really took a shine to that film, so I wouldn't let your Foma 200 experience cloud the issue.
