Said cut film holder (bag magazine) with heavy wear. (1924 - 1945)
Septums needing various degree of retouching.
Varathane Ebony wood stain dries to a gloss on both the wood frame and metal parts. Suggestions on dulling it?
Trying to stay with what I have on hand.

3-0 steel wool, lightly applied.

Or photographic dulling spray.

Bought some 0000 steel wool, a waste of money. (000 was not available)
3M Scotch Brite between coat pad (gray) works 100% better than steel wool.

4-ought too fine. It’s for polishing, basically. 2-ought would have worked better. Probably very much like that ScotchBrite. But you succeeded so it doesn’t really matter any more.

No, it looks like S___. Need to go back to 1930 and have it factory refurbished as the finish materials are no longer available and the ones that are available are in industrial quantities.
