Folder Repair Reference

Can anyone recommend a good, general reference on repairing and maintaining 120 folders? I have Olympus, Voightlander, Zeiss, etc with various Compur, Copal, and Prontor shutters.

Do you mean a book or site for repairing folders? If so, I don't know of a general guide. There are a variety of sources scattered all around. For example, a Compur manual is available. People have put up a pages showing their stripdowns of a variety of shutters. Bellows repair methods are scattered around. Alignment, etc.

Much of the time it's a matter of extrapolating. Shutters are very similar once you learn one or two. Alignment is a matter of studying the specific model in front of you. The nice thing about folders is that they are usually distinct systems assembled into one unit, not fully integrated. So a shutter is a shutter is a shutter, no need to worry about how it interacts with the wind mechanism.

I can't remember the website but there's one particularly good one with repairs to folders. This one seems similar.

I was hoping for a good book that gave a nice overview. There are certainly a "variety of sources scattered all around", but I was hoping for something less scattered. It would seem that given the limited number of shutter types and the fairly straightforward construction of the cameras, somebody would have put together a reasonably comprehensive guide. But perhaps not.

Well Thomas Tomosy's book Restoring Classic and Collectible Cameras is an excellent resource, you can find it as a PDF download. It covers restorations reasonably well, I came across it just after my first Speed Graphic restoration.

I picked up quite a detailed repair manual/guide at a Camera fair maybe last year (perhaps the year before), Ed Romney I think, it had some supplements on Leica repairs. I've not used it because at the moment all my time is taken up by LF repairs, TP shutters, etc - but I will eventually get to those that need it
