fogot to take dark slide on Super 23

Ok, so I have this body, I shop for a lens, then I order some light seals, I spent 2 hours putting them on, buy a test film 120 Ektar100. Since the camera is really heavy I let it rest for about a week until finally I go out there and take 8 pictures.

Two hours later, I am in the bathroom taking a piss and think to myself, did I remove the dark slide? Of course not!!

Question: can I just put the film on the starting point and used backwards from picture 8 to 1? or do I do this operation twice so I have the film starting from picture 1 again?

Does the question make sense?

I don't recall there being anything that attaches the backing to the film at the tail end, only at the leading end. The challenge would be to rewind the film onto a new supply reel; you could do this in a totally dark room or using a changing bag.

Didn't even think about that! but you are so right, I fucked up! time to learn how to re-spool, I have a better idea, I bought an old brownie a long time a ago in a garage sale and for laziness I never re-spooled a 120 into the 620 reels, I think my brownie is going to be the winner of this ektar.

Yeah, been there and done that. My Mamiya TLR's don't have dark slides, but you can shoot with the lens cap on and never realize it until too late. With the Hasselblad at least, the shutter is locked until the dark slide is removed. You'll need to re-wind the film back onto the supply spool though. No way it's going to work if you just try to feed it through from the other end. Only the leading edge of the film is taped to the backing paper. Feeding it through with the free end first will likely jam up the works. Not to worry though, the re-winding process is straightforward and simple.

Just quickly went through the 8 rolls of B&W I took with a friend's Super 23 in Yosemite in March, using 6x7 and 6x9 backs. It was the first time I used it, but I own and have used a Calumet roll film holder on 4x5 and have used LF cameras for 30 years. So I am experienced with dark slides.

Out of the 8 rolls I have two blank frames and two double exposures. I think I just got lucky!

PS...and once I loaded the holder onto the camera body in from the wrong end -- that shot came out out of focus since the holder was not sitting flat on the camera back.

With the exception of the SWC family, it is not possible to take a photograph with the lens cap on and not know it.

Sure it's possible - when you use a sportsfinder, for example.

I haven't used my Super 23 in a couple of years, but I when I was using it regularly I was convinced it was designed by a man named 'Murphy'...

I shot the first roll at a wedding with the dark slide in. I recovered by the fact we had enough time to re-do as they were the bride dressing. I told them I had some new ideas and wanted a few more shots. Wheew! Never did that again!
