Fogged film from Olympus Stylus

Hi all, I received an Olympus Stylus loaded with expired Fuji 200 film and shot the roll in bright sunny conditions. When I got the film back, my trusted lab returned the film completely black without any images. I did not load the film myself, but when it rewound automatically, it sounded like the film was unwinding and loaded back into the film cannister correctly.

Could this be a problem with the camera body?

I currently have another roll of film inside and I'm worried it will also come back blank.

Not likely a camera fault. Looks more like someone pulled the film out, wound it back up and stuck it in the camera. I suppose the foam seal around the film window could be completely gone but the exposure probably wouldn't be as even.

The camera is not going to do that. You have no idea how the film that came loaded in the camera was handled etc.

Try another roll, but use fresh film. It's almost impossible to track down problems using expired film in a new-to-you camera.

It's been pre-exposed and wound back into the cassette, probably by that same person who once sold a box of photographic paper on eBay and photographed the paper to show how many sheets were in the box (it's true!).

So strange, though I don't know the providence of the film roll. Could this have been any part of the lab's fault by chance?

So now we have three theories:

It is the photo finisher's fault.
It is [using the technical term] an Operator Assisted Failure also known as an OAF [usage: The oaf did this.].
Both #1 and #2.

Well, they could have done a number of things that resulted in the film being exposed to room light before they developed it, but all of those are in the category of "once in a million screw up", and are less likely than you having done the same thing.

cloud said he's (?) used them before and has been happy. Far greater chance someone examined the film to see if there are any pictures on it.....
