Focusing got a bit hard

Just noticed that focusing on my Nikkor 50/1.4 AI got a bit hard/rough/dry so to speak...seems like lens needs a service or at least lubrication of the helical gear...is it diyable? any good place in UK/EIRE to go?

I'm pretty handy, having done mechanics of all sorts all my life. DIY are us.

I fixed two SLR lenses myself. They are still in plastic bags, all the little pieces looking out at me...
