Hi, I was just wondering if anybody has attempted to make a focus extension themselves?

I would really like one, but $131 for one is bit steep to me, esp since, it seems to be just a flexible wire that attaches to the fine focus knob with another knob on the other end.

With some knobs you can wrap a loop of cord around the stem of the knob and just pull on the loop (like with window blinds).

Dear mauren,

A visit to McMaster.com and you could put something together for about half that. Still not cheap though.

You can find those flexible springy things at a store that sells telescopes and figure out how to adapt it to your enlarger.

Dear mouren;
I made a six and three foot flexible focusing rods for my 23CllXL for use when I make very large to mural size prints on a hanging easel and I used old outboard motor shift cables I got for free from the boat shop that services my outboard engine. They are a little more flexible than the ones that came with my 45VXL.
