How scarce and expensive are the negative holder and lens for focomat 1(a?)? I have the enlarger located and it is reasonably priced, but the lens and negative holder are missing. Will the lens from my 23C2 fit? Any input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Gerry

Check ebay often.
Yes, any lens will fit but you might need the focomat extension ring.

Check Kienzle for parts.

As I recall the Focotar is a 39mm mount so if the lens you have is 39mm.........as above you may need the extension ring, maybe....or not.
You may initially lose autofocus but it can be adjusted to the new lens(at least on a lC)

Actually, I fiddled around too long and someone else bought it. Since I am having to temporarily downsize, today I got a Meopta Opemus III. Like new condition and it really fits my present needs very well. Also, only $35.

the only thing that really matters is the lens -- if you still want a focotar send me a note, I have a spare, or a Nikkor el lens too. The Nikkors are really wonderful, I've used one of those on my Focomat Ic for more than 25 years.

Thanks for that. Since I lost out on the Focomat, I did buy a very nice Meopta enlarger today. I have a 50/2.8 Componon-S that I have been using on my 23C2. I just need to adapt a lens holder for it.
