I was recently given a working, albeit worn looking Focomat iic enlarger. It comes with the v-elmar 100/4.5 & 60/4.5 lenses. The 100mm is looking fine but the the 60mm has scratches on the front element.

Looks like the previous owner mainly used this for 135 negatives as the enlarger doesn't seem to have a 6x6 mask, only a 24x36 mask. Does anyone know if I can source for this somewhere?

At first, congratulations to a top of the line enlarger. Your main source for spare parts is probably e-bay or similar sites. If you don't find anything there and/or if you want to order new parts, there is a German company, Kienzle , who still manufactures their own enlargers and spare parts for other types. They have quite a good selection of parts for the Focomat IIC . I have ordered from them myself and everything worked out just fine. Obviously it is a rather small company so sometimes e-mail answers can take a few days but everything is handled in good, classic German order. I enclose a link to their web-site. Look through it and send them a mail. They have a larger selection than what is listed on the web.
Good luck !

Hi,

I've got a Focomat IIc too. I'm having my lenses (same as yours) cleaned and recoated by Malcolm Taylor, who is one of the UK's great Leica repair gurus. He is also making me a XPan mask for my Focomat. He may be able to make you a 6x6 mask. It won't be the same as the original, but it should work. I'm waiting for my lenses and masks to come back, as he has been very busy.

Malcolm doesn't have a website. H's a retired architect living in the depths of the English countryside in an old farmhouse. He prefers to talk to people (phone no +44 1568 770542).

Best wishes,

Charlie

Chioque,

I'm sure Malcolm will be able to help. He is cutting my masks from black anodised aluminium sheet and is using my 35mm IIc mask as a template. If you catch him quick, he may be able to use my 35mm template mask to make your 6x6 mask too.

Best wishes,

Charlie
