Hello, all! I have a Nikon FM2 that I recently got serviced along with an Arsat-H 50mm f2. The problem I am facing is that the lightmeter works fine when I vary the shutter speed, but when I vary the aperture, there is no change in the light meter reading. For Eg: A shot which shows me "+" at 1/250 shutter speed at f2 shows me "+" at f16. Is this supposed to happen ?
Sounds like the lens you are using doesn't have the AI tab and is not activating the aperture reading linkage. Try a Nikkor lens and see if that solve your problem.
That lens is supposed to have the Ai tab. You can check for yourself to see if it is engaging. With the lens off the camera, look for the small tab on the lens mount of the camera body. This should be able to rotate freely along the lens mount. This is what tells the body what aperture the lens is set at. Now, mount the lens and change he aperture. Does the tab move?
If it was an FM or FE, I'd guess that the tab was flipped up (which it did to be able to mount non-ai lenses). But I'm pretty sure the FM2 doesn't have that option.
