Flim splitter ideas?

I ordered some double run 8mm Foma to shoot in my Dad's old Kodak movie camera. I found a lab that can process it but they can't split it, so I was wondering if there are any on-line sources for plans to build a film splitter? :confused: Any ideas thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

I have an 8mm slitter around here somewhere. It is a very simple device. Let me find it and post some pictures.

send your film to be processed through walmart
( just mark the special instructions on the bag " 8mm movie film" )
you can also have it processed through prep film labs in MI.

walmart sends it out ( and it costs like 4$ to process double run 8mm )

prep film also sell film for your camera as well.

You can find some information on home-made film splitters at the Sub Club. This site is dedicated to subminiature still photography, but the basic principles of the splitter ought to work for your application, too. If anything, you'd have it easier, since if I understand correctly, you've got processed film, so you don't need to worry about doing it all in total darkness.

That Wallmart service is for Kodachrome only, not B&W reversal (Foma). Prep Film does not sell B&W reversal R8mm, they only process it.

Do you still have your camera? You should try some B&W while it is still feasible

lomo slitter

I think this is what you want. I got one from J&C a few years ago, and a second one in a Lomo tank from the UK. Some former Soviet bloc sellers of Lomo tanks and Krasnogorsk movie cameras, etc. have them on offer from time to time. As it so happens, I saw two for sale on eBay a week or two ago for about 9-15 USD, IIRC. I can't find the listings now, but they come up from time to time.

One threads the film into the 16mm slot in the drum and pulls it out the other end - very smooth, very fast, and very even.

Kino, don't feel bad. It took me a while to find mine just now. You wouldn't believe the other lost things I found looking for my slitter.
