Hello! I need some help. What can you say about the Fixons OHP Digital Negative Transparency Film (fixons.com)? I want to buy a pack for tests (very attractive price), but I can not find reviews and information on the Internet. Anybody use it for contact printing?

I have been using Fixxons for a short while. I find it is generally equivalent to the more expensive Pictorico transparencies. Once in while I might see some physical defects like scratch marks but so far I have not seen them transferred to my prints. I have never seen such defects in Pictorico.

In one respect, I think it is even better suited for my application than the Pictorico TPS100 that I had been using - I find that it has less propensity to flake off. Pictorico coating seems to be more brittle. I have some sticking issues when making contact prints on gelatin coated POP which results in some flaking of minute pieces of the coating - mostly in the white borders where there is maximum ink density. With Fixxons, although there is still some sticking, the coating looks more resilient to flaking and transferring on to the paper. I think this issue is unique to gelatin coated glossy papers and perhaps the ink set I am using, so it may not be an universal problem. For example, I had no such sticking issues with salt prints on water color papers with either transparencies.

All in all, based on my short experience, I would recommend getting a pack and judge for yourself for your process. The risk is low and the price is right....

P.S. Just realized this thread should have been in the Digital Negative sub-forum.
