I tried this out based on the rule of half the concentration, increase fixing time by 1.4 times (saw it on Photo.net). Is this extended time correct? The prints appear OK, but is their a long term impact associated with this more dilute fixing procedure? Ilford refer to the 1+9 dilution on the bottle, but give no times, so I am unsure about the right way forward. I am using this for paper fixing only, but would be interested in views for film also. Can I use the clearing test for both as a measure for time?

I am interested in tihs dilution since I sometimes do short print runs of large prints, and I would like to save on developer.

Try reading the instructions on side of the bottle Ilford give times for 1+4 & 1+9. 1+9 1 minute for RC paper, 2 minutes for FB. Or go here

The instructions fold out and are in 10 languages, you might not spot them
