Have any of y'all ever had your fixer turn dark?

Mine happened overnight. Last night it was clear, this morning it's very dark grey and there's a grey precipitate on the inside of the (plastic) bottle.

Oxidation, maybe? Granted, normally I use fixer up before it has a chance to go stale(?) but I didn't shoot much this spring at all so it's been on the counter a while.

FWIW, the pink the the fixer from my previous question went away with the next roll I fixed.

Thanks!

Was the Fixer Fresh?or Used?

It was used, but hypo-check showed it as still good.

May have had quite a bit of silver in solution though, which can deposit on and stain the sides of the container.

It might be indicator from your stop bath - the fixer I use has a ph of 8 - stop bath indicator goes dark at that ph. I recently started using stop bath and noticed the change in my fixer color.

Never had fixer turn black, but did have a used quart in a glass bottle that got put into storage (accidentaly) during a move; when I found it a very hot July later it had deposited it's silver onto the glass and made it look black untill it was poured out. (I kept the bottle, it's kinda cool.)
