First show - How to display/hang photos?? Need ideas!!

Hey Puggers.......

Today I received acceptance to what will be my first "show"......Outdoors, 10x10 tent etc......Ok, I have the images, but I need help on how best to hang /display them.....

I'm guessing I will need to build some sort of frame and support system.....

Anyone have plans or photos of what you use? The Prints will mostly be around 20x24 (framed size)......

Many, many options, depending on how much money and time you have. A good site to look at is

Most important - make sure that your booth is prepared for any weather - rain, wind, whatever. I have seen too many booths self destruct when the weather rolls in. Nothing sadder than a pile of broken glass, and soggy prints.

Also, keep it simple - don't clutter the booth - less is more .....

A local art club I belong to uses panels from these people; one of our more ambitious members has made fitted fabric sleeves to pull over them for a plain linen-like background. We only use them for indoor gallery-style exhibitions, so we don't have any shelves, chairs, roof frames or other peripheral goodies. The price is not trivial, I guess you need to decide whether this sort of activity is going to be a regular thing or a one-shot deal. I've seen some covered booth-like assemblies with telescoping aluminum poles and fitted fabric flies and all, don't know who makes them, but am sure they're even pricier. Were it me (a cheapo) I might attempt to make some frames of 2x2 or 1x3 wood and fasten welded wire fencing over them. Hinge a few together with removable pin hinges.

Also plan in advance how you may deal with wind -- maybe ropes and tent pegs (and a mallet to pound them in with) -- as I've seen some pretty nasty conditions at outdoor events.

I use Pro Panels http://www.propanels.com They're expensive, but hold up well. I've had mine for about 14 years.
This is a booth slide I used for jurying, a few years ago (you'll see both light and dark gray panels. Given a choice, I'd opt for all dark gray):

If your looking for a cheap alternative, try something like this: Dead Link Removed Use large shower curtain hooks (the lockable kind) and some weight at the bottom. Use metal curtain hooks to hang the frames. This solution will work with a tent with a solid frame. It won't work well with an EZ- Up tent. If you plan on doing outdoor shows regularly, invest in a good tent. They run about $1000/new but are worth it. Cheap, light tents don't last, or protect you from the elements. The tent in the photo I posted above is a Craft Hut. There are 3, or 4, good tent makers.
