First rolls of Foma 400 being developed tonight

Finally shot my first rolls of Foma 400. Going into the darkroom. Two rolls, one full frame 35mm, one half-frame on the Pen F.

Going with manufacturer's directions with the full frame, D76 for 8 minutes. Going with Rodinal 1:50 for 12 minutes, for the half frame, to give me the sharper grain I want on this sub-miniature format. These will be my starting points. I'll keep you posted and ultimately post a couple of pictures from each roll.

I'm also going to soup 2 rolls of my 25 year old Recording 2475. If you read my post on this, I'd gotten good results with an ASA200 exposure and D76 1:1 at 12 minutes, so I'll use this for these rolls, too. I'll up the temperature to 72 degrees and go with 10 minutes, though.

Let's go into the darkroom and see what develops!

Yes . . . sorry for the delay. I had a very iffy looking batch of developer, and the drugstore was out of distilled water. Had to wait 2 days. Our water here is really hard so I mix developer with distilled. Also, had no new D76 so I used fresh Xtol. The Foma 400 in both formats was shot at box speed. That's what I actually prefer to do.

Okay . . . the full frame Foma 400 in Xtol looks beautiful. Nice negs, almost a luminous quality. They should print beautifully on grade 3 paper. That's next, next weekend with any luck at all. I went with manufacturer's directions at 7.5 minutes in stock.

The half-frame negatives (Foma 400) were developed in a small tank, so I increased the time to 18 minutes, Rodinal 1:50. They look good, but the tale will be told in printing. They're not quite as up-front as most Rodinal negatives are. Probably needed another couple of minutes. But they will definitely print.

Onward to stage 2!!!
