Thank you! Really appreciate it!You've made a good start Tanner, keep it up. Good choice of a camera as well.
Thank you for the advice and the compliment, means a lot! I'll do my best not to buy up a bunch of equipment, it is a bad habit of mine.Quite good ! Don't go nuts buying a bunch of equipment , you have a good eye . Keep shooting .

I've been accumulating for 50 years . Your F3 is a great (Fabulous ) place to start . Keep trying new things , I like the available light work .Thank you for the advice and the compliment, means a lot! I'll do my best not to buy up a bunch of equipment, it is a bad habit of mine.
Thank you! Do you have an lens recommendations? I currently have a AF 24mm AFs (a lens I bought with the camera that i'm not completely in love with.) and the 105mm 2.8 AIs (that I really enjoy but only in certain use scenarios)I've been accumulating for 50 years . 50mm 1.4 and a Nikon rubber lens hood. the 105 is a really great lens . 50mm is so great . Don't buy any old manual zooms they are too slow , a fast lens like 1.4,1.8, 2.0 etc.gives you so much more control of depth of field . They are bright and easy to focus in dim light with the standard focusing screen .Thank you! Do you have an lens recommendations? I'm going to London in a few weeks . I'm leaving everything at home except for a Nikon F2, with a 50 1.4, a yellow filter ( black and white contrast filter) and a couple rolls of 400 speed Kodak TMY-2 and a small incident light meter . No zooms, no flashes .
Some great people have spent their entire career with nothing but a 50.
Best Regards Mike
From a fellow San Diegan, welcome to APUG Tanner! Some nice shots there, I especially like the 1st one.
For manual focus lenses, the 105/2.5 is a great lens for portraits, and my favorite wide lens is the 28/2.8 AIS (not AI). If you like wider lenses, the 24/2.8 and 20/2.8 or 20/3.5 are also good. I also have the 35/2.0, which is much, much better than the 35/2.8 (dog!). I hear the 35/1.4 is spectacular, if you can afford it. Most of the longer lenses are very good, the 180/2.8 and the 200/4.0 are my favorites. The 50/1.4 is very good, but some prefer the 50/1.8 or the older 50/2.0 instead.
If you really like zooms, the longer lenses like the 80-200/4 or 4.5 are very good, and cheap. The 75-150/3.5 is good, but some folks won't consider it because it's a Series E lens. The quality of the wide zooms is more varied, but I've had good results with the 35-70/3.5 AIS and the 35-105/3.5-4.5 AIS.
If you're interested in meeting other photographers in San Diego, there's a group that was formed via Instagram last year called "BeersandCameras" with a site at Dead Link Removed . Good mix of film and digital shooters, but it's a social group that meets every other Thurs nite at a different local brewery or restaurant, and every other Sat morning at a different coffee house for the non-vampires. Lots of fun with plenty of old-school film shooters attending, which is not the case with most photo groups in San Diego anymore.
Here's one I took with my F3 and the 28/2.8 AIS recently:
