OK, first "successful" paper negative.
This was the 4th exposure figuring out what the paper wanted.
Shot under room light, 3 100W bulbs in a ceiling fan fixture.

Ilford MGIV RC Glossy developed in Dektol
f16 @ 4'15"
Toyoview 45AX; Nikkor 210mm f5.6

straight scan

Inverted in PS and a few dust specs from the scanner cleaned up.

Pretty much what I was after.
I'm hooked, this is fun.
I set up my trays with chemistry in my darkroom and had the camera across the hall in my "office". Set up, made a couple of exposures and took them in and developed them. Took a couple trys to get what I wanted.
Next I'll experiment with flashing and move on to trying to enlarge them.

Looks like you are off to good start!

Pre-flashing brings the contrast down, as does old paper. If you have Rodinal, you can try that too.

using a yellow enlarger filter helps cut the contrast too
( using coffee developer too )

Process paper negs in Rodinal?...what's a good dilution?

According to my notes I did 1+50 in a drum, rolling it on the kitchen bench. The idea came from an old recipe for developing gaslight papers that I found here on APUG. -> (there was a url link here which no longer exists) which is a bit different but hey, I wanted to try the idea.

Check the discussion for that recipe - some starting points and ideas in there.
