Heya!

I just got my first machining project in the mail. I had a 9" Verito front mounted in a #5 Ilex shutter. I checked with LensN2Shutter (Tim Sharkey) and another outfit, and Tim came out with the best price. I also had a bit of an adventurous spirit about this whole project (the lens was from Australia, and went "cheap" for a few reasons), so I thought I would try Tim even though I have seen little or no feedback on him.

Anyway, net result--it is a very good job. We aren't talking about an incredibly complex job here, but the work was done very well. For a basic job, there are some real good details. E.g. when the lens is screwed in, the aperture indication comes out on top so it can be easily viewd. Also, there are no sharp corners.

I wish I could give a good idea of the time to complete the project. Due to excessive waffling on my part, there were significant delays. He got the lens in Mid September, and I got it back in under 2 months, even with my delays. However, he states that he normally has a 4-6 week lead time.

I never spoke on the phone--I did everything via email. That method works for me, since I tend to think of these things late at night, when hard working people are asleep. He did well fielding my questions like this.

Tim (LensN2Shutter) mounted my 45cm into a copal 3. It was a very fair price and an excellent job. I highly recommend him work and plan to use him again.

I should note, my 45cm is a Red Dot Artar. He made a nice aperture scale on one side of my copal 3 so that I can also use the original lens (Xenar 300mm f5.6) too. It has produced some nice portraits and having spoken with him on the phone and exchanging emails know the time, effort, thought, and quality work he produced for my project. I will try to download one later this week.
