Very impressive to me !!! I really like the old fashioned look that the picture has. If that's just a fourth attempt, I'd be inclined to say that you're waaaayy ahead of the pack.

Very nice job CJ, 4th one huh! and 1st on glass...well I think you are moving along quite well....Funny, the first good one is always so exciting.

Glad you shared with us, looking forward to your 40th and 100th prints now..bet they will be just a special. Love the older process, they just add a little something extra IMO.

Kerik: "I love the smell of collodion on the morning!" I have been chuckling about that all afternoon. I think I might put it on a sign and mount it on my Darkbox.

J.M.: I used my home made 4x5 Maple camera.

Holder? Don't ask! I did it the hard way

I took a Lisco holder apart - always wanted to see how they were put together

I stripped the flim holders off and cut a hole in the sceptum (right word?). I glued little triangles over the corners of the cutout to hold the face of the plate in the plane of focus and glued the Lisco back together.

I'm working on the design for a wooden plate holder that will hold 4x5 plates, use standard dark slides, and be the same outside dimensions as a standard holder. I haven't figure out yet how to latch the back without anything sticking out to interfere with the GG frame.

Kerik,

Do you have a shot with a plate inside, obviously uncoated?

Thanks,

No, but if you look at the first image I posted, the plate fits within the opening, emulsion down and resting on the little aluminum triangles at each corner.

OK, emulsion down. That's part of what I was having trouble with.

Thanks,

Mike
