hi, i've admired pinhole photography for years, but have never bothered trying it. i have been considering getting one of the finney pinhole body caps to use on my voigtlander r3a, but haven't heard much about the product. does anyone here have experience with the finney pinhole caps, and if so, what is your opinion of them? do they work well, or would i be better off buying (or building) a dedicated pinhole camera? thanks.

I have one, and it's a simple and easy way to get into pinhole photography. If you have a shoe mount viewfinder for a normal lens, you can even have an idea of what the pinhole is pointed at.

I don't have any experience with them, but Randy Smith at Holgamods makes pinhole body caps for most mounts for less than half the price of a Finney.

The only issue with electromagnetic shutters is that you'll end up keeping them open for a long time for each exposure, so you can chew through batteries pretty quickly.

I have one for my Mamiya 645 and I like it. It gives a little wider view than the 80mm standard Mamiya lens, so i just compose with the 80 on and then put on the pinhole.

These were both taken with the Finney cap on the 645
