Boy, altim, good luck on this quest. I mean that with no cycnicism whatsoever, being a Minolta-phile with a (very) modest collection. I wonder why the two components of the camera were ever seperated in the first place, as the camera's motor function (the whole point of that particular model) doesn't run without the battery grip. I'm assuming that, since the camera does have a film advance lever and is fully manual, that it can be used to take pictures without the motorized film advance.

There isn't a lot of action these days in these groups, but maybe someone onboard can give you some help. (I realize that you may already know about these, as acquiring such a rare camera in the first place indicates some interest in the genre.):
