I picked up an SR-M recently, but it doesn't have a battery grip. Seeing as how this camera is somewhat rare as it is, any suggestions on where I can find a replacement grip for it? Or maybe I'm just out of luck? Much thanks.
Boy, altim, good luck on this quest. I mean that with no cycnicism whatsoever, being a Minolta-phile with a (very) modest collection. I wonder why the two components of the camera were ever seperated in the first place, as the camera's motor function (the whole point of that particular model) doesn't run without the battery grip. I'm assuming that, since the camera does have a film advance lever and is fully manual, that it can be used to take pictures without the motorized film advance.
Here are a few links to groups that include some heavy-hitters in the Minolta collectibles world. There isn't a lot of action these days in these groups, but maybe someone onboard can give you some help. (I realize that you may already know about these, as acquiring such a rare camera in the first place indicates some interest in the genre.):
Thank you for the kind words, I'll check out those groups and hopefully someone can help out. It should be an interesting search, an SR-M owner sans grip looking for a grip owner sans SR-M.
The camera does function just fine by using the manual film advance, but obviously the camera is a lot more interesting with the battery grip.
