About a year ago I bought A C1 (Green Monster). It is a heavy camera . So I needed a good tripod. Local photo store had a used Bogen 075 with a three way head and quick release ( Hex).Hex was to small so I decided to buy 4"X4" that would fit on the tripod. It was better this time front to back but not good left to right. Great tripod but a bit wobbly because base of the camera is not a solid plate but frame casting to save weight. So each time I put the camera on the tripod it would slightly wobble from side to side. Yesterday I decided to make a nice plate that is going to fit under whole base of the camera. Now I don't have to worry about camera not being solid and I have quick release. I thought to share this with you guy's, maybe someone else has the same problem.

This is similar to what did with my C1 only I mounted the plate to the camera and dirlled a hole to allow the 3/8" threaded bolt of the quick disconnect mount to pass through.

Nice work, my plate is not nearly as polished as yours. Perhaps I'll remove mine and drill some holes as you have to reduce the weight. I also think my plate is a lighter guage aluminum.

Material is 3/16" aluminium and 4"X4" tripod plate is bolted onto the aluminium plate. It is very solid. Unfortunately I can't bolt anything on the bottom of the camera when in the box. I padded the inside of the carrying box. Once I set it up I have place in the truck where I put the camera unfolded to drive to the next picture taking site. I don't remove the plate until I finish shooting.

I did the same but left it solid, the weight is that much more and the strength is intact. The bases on these are weak to say the least. I don't like any of the heads so I am going to make one when I get a chance.
