Finally shooting film again - Rollei SLX

I was gifted a Rollei SLX about a month ago. Did a test roll a couple of days ago and today went out to the family farm to do some fog, frost and snow shots around the yard. Shot Ilford Delta 400 and souped it in my fav PyroCat-HD. Boy was it nice to get back into the film grove again! I'm not bashing digi because I use it a lot for commercial stuff and vacation pics but the SLX was very pleasant to use. Being a shutter priority camera I quickly got into the habit of adjusting the ISO to get the exposures I wanted. I must say though that the SLX metering is very spot on. Loved it. The negs came out exactly as I hoped. I guess I haven't totally lost my touch lol.

It was -20C with no wind. I wasn't sure how the SLX would behave but it surprised me. Not a hiccup and I didn't baby it at all. It stayed out in the cold the entire time.

Well I guess it's time to dust off the enlargers and get some printing done. I have to admit I will probably scan the negs first. My poor darkroom has been taken over by my reloading equipment. I did have the foresight to make sure I could leave the press and case trimmer bolted down and still have full use of the enlarger. I suppose all my chemicals are toast by now. Next the LF gear .... Oh and I'm scanning eBay for a 50mm lens for my SLX.

'Nice to hear, Eric. 'Probably want to keep your loading gear away from the acetic acid fumes of a stop bath - unless you like cleaning & oiling dies, presses, etc.
Now get busy & post some shots! :D

I was in such a depression after selling my Blad gear I couldn't look at film  Actually I had to concentrate on digi stuff for some time to insure I could deliver professional results. Like anything new there was a step learning curve. That and the ease of just firing off a bunch of images and then emailing them out the same afternoon. So much for my flirtation with photographic crack. Film for fun and digi for dollars. Hey it even rhymes.

Well we all know the cure for that problem. Buy replacement Hasselblad equipment. :D

Photographic crack: I'm now taken by random recall of the image & getting big smiles every time I think of it. 'Great & hillarious shot.

And there we have the Eric Rose that we have known in the past. Nice color on the cheeks.

My poor darkroom has been taken over by my reloading equipment.

that's exactly what happened to my bench. Sitting atop where the Besler use to be are my RCBS Jr press, Ohaus measure, drop tube and scale for black powder measuring and case filling, a sundry of powder, primers and dies. It's sheer blaspheny I tell you, sheer blasphemy!

Souped another roll of Delta 400 this morning, my last roll btw, and it turned out fantastic. Went through my fridge and it seems all I have left for MF film is some Pan F, Agfa 25asa stuff and 6 rolls of infrared. I guess it will be seeing what I can find locally since our Canuck peso is in the shitter right now.

You know I might just have to dig out the 4x5. I've got a lifetime supply of 4x5 film. I was out with a buddy yesterday helping him christen his new 12x20 Canham. Size matters
