Picked up one of my two Canon F-1n to exercise the shutter. Could not wind the film advance lever. I could depress the shutter release button, but the shutter did not release. Now this camera had a Canon FD 50 f1.4 mounted. After a couple of days of trying to advance the film wind or cock the shutter I began to think about a repair job. I have used F-1n's for literally years, decades and never a problem. Last night I was looking at my Hasselblad and thinking about the lens connector. Picked up the Canon F-1n with the lens attached, and removed it. Put my thumb to the film advance lever, and it moved smoothly forward. With the lens off I ran all the speeds watching the mirror slap. Put a different FD lens on, and ran fine. Not being a Canon repair tech I can only guess the trouble is in that lens mount. Thanks to my Hasselblad for the inspiration.
