finally getting there

I hope to have my darkroom finally built this month sometime.

Thanks for all the ideas from everyone. I decided to plumb the long sink, and added a fume removal system..which consists of the a light tight vent (air in) behind me on the wall (if I was facing the sink). I am adding a Centrifugal inline fan that flows out the side of the house.. that's hooked to a variable fan speed controller, so I can vary the exhaust output..and noise.
Also putting up some shelves, and then moving the different desks and such in this week. Lots of details that take time. I am working on it about 3 days a week.
Also finished installing insulation in the ceiling... and running some extra electric lines.

Depending on which way you process your prints left to right or right to left you might want to drill more holes in your air extraction pipe at the end furthest away from the fan.

Air is pretty lazy stuff and always takes the shortest route where it can - leaving the furthest away end doing very little

Of course if the fan end is under your fixer and stop baths then you might be OK.

Do a couple of print sessions before drilling any more holes.

Cigars make excellent smoke sticks to track airflow patterns (smoke disperses more slowly than cigarettes) - but if you are a confirmed no smoker then the vapour trail from an extinguished candle can be good but very transitory.

Thanks for the ideas for the holes. I can always fix it with duct tape.

The table with the sink is heavy duty. It's not going anywhere, and it's not pretty, but it's strong and it works great.

I was going to build a dedicated table, but that would have been another $150 worth of wood, so I improvised.
I love coming up with cheap solutions to possible big headaches.

Would love to put up a ceiling, but short on cash. Out of work for now. Nobody's buying plane tickets, so I got the "boot" with 350 other pilots.
3rd time in 9 years. I should have been a dentist.

2 mil poly from the lumberyard keeps the dust up there.

Or maybe even cheaper is the painters poly drop sheets from the local dollar store.

Thanks for the idea.

When I put in the insulation. I purchased incapsulated Sound proofing insulation by Johns Manville. It is formaldehyde free, and the whole thing is sealed in plastic, plus I have room ionizer/hepa filter running when I am not in the room. Keeps the dust at almost zero...plus everyday I dust with the swiffer duster. (don't tell my wife or it will be on the everyday "honey doo list".)

I appreciate your idea too. I wanted to add the insulation because my 4 year old Son's room is above the darkroom, and I knew if he heard something in the middle of the night he would wake up and be paralyzed with fear that there would be an alligator under his bed, oh yea, and the insulation makes the room warmer too
