As a new owner of a 1963 Hassleblad 550C what B/W filter brand(s) do you reccomend? Should I go after 'blad bayonet filters, size B60, or buy an adapter of 62mm or 67mm or another size and purchase other branded filters?

I also use a 4 x 5 Speed graphic, if an adapter is a factor for commonality.

Thanks.

What lens(es) do you have? They determine what filter size to get.

If a bayonet 60 (CF or later) lens, a 62 mm thread filter is too small, and you would have to go for the larger 67 mm filters. That is, if you want to get thread mount filters instead of the bayonet ones.

And if you have a bayonet 50 lens, you would need an adapter to 57 mm. Not 55 or 52.

If you plan to use your filters on other, non Zeiss/Hasselblad lenses too, using an adapter to screw mount filters would be the better choice.

Heliopan and B+W are two brands of good glass filters.

I generally use B+W brand filters in Bay60 size (readily available from B&H). No complaints. The Lee system that Dan mentions is also good, but a bit bulkier.

B+W here, as I demand utmost optical glass quality for my filters, still use some older Nikon's inherited from my 35mm system.

Don't save money on filters, it's not the right place to make cuts.

+1 with QG. Bay to thread will give easiest access to the largest variety.

I use Heliopan B60 filters which I can find both new and used easily.
