films for Ansco (GAF) 130?

I have been using home compounded Ansco 130 with Oriental graded FB paper and like the results so much I'm wondering who is using this on films and if there is anything unique to be had by doing so?

Currently I am shooting Tri-x 400, Pan-x, Ekfe 100, Ekfe 25, Pan F, Acros 100, and Arista Edu.Ultra 400 in 35mm, 127, 120 and before I try this myself starting times, etc from experienced users are sought.

It would also be nice to see some pictures from Ansco 130 developed negatives as well.

How popular was this as film developer in the past?

John might not be available much these days due to other obligations, but if you search for his posts, you might find some relevant information.

My hunch would be to dilute the developer a bit more than print strength (try 1+4 or 1+9, say), and do a few clip tests. Perhaps start with a midspeed easy film like FP4+ or Efke 100 to get in the ballpark, and use that as a starting point for other experimentations.

I've gotten good results with 1:5, 1:10 and 1:20 dilutions of Ansco 130
