I have been told that it is "grey" around that time but am unsure as to what that exactly means. I am looking for a definition to term used. 400 will be okay for hand holding? I will be bringing a 35mm with 1000 shutter but my 120 folder only goes up to 250 so film choice is key if I want to shoot around 5.6 to 11.

Thanks in advance!

-what lenses will you be using for your 35mm
-It depends what time of day you will be out and about. Afternoons or midday.
- It depends on whether you will be in the city or suburbs.
- Before or after the time change... here's a quick google search to answer daylight and sunset times for Dallas.

To make it easy on you, i would use hp5+ 120 or equivalent for afternoons. I would push this to 1600's or at least 800. on medium format, the grain will be negligible but also give it a nice "film look" if there is lots of grain, while still maintaining detail in shadows.

during the day i would use the 35mm as I'm sure you will be moving around more. What film? that depends on what lenses you'll be using, Indoors/outdoors. 400 is a very adaptable film. just close the shutter a little more, but again, do you want some nice bokeh? I understand you mentioned 5.6 to 11 but was unsure of if that was for 35mm as well.

I personally like iso 25 on 35mm in the morning to midday, that way i can open up apertures all the way to 1.4 or 1.8 etc.

+I only shoot b/w, maybe you want color, IDK, but given the conditions, the very minimum seems to be iso 400. hp5 is easy to push, especially in medium format.

Wow, thanks for the great answer:
- For my 35, I normally carry my 50/ 1.7 and a 135/ 2.8. I will probably have a roll or two of Kodak Gold 200 (I really like its color) and XP2 Super 400 for flexibility.
- My 120 is a Zeiss Ercona folder and that is the huge question mark. I normally shoot 400 TMax in it but that limits me to F11+ as my max shutter speed is 250 when it is bright outside. That does not result in the DoF I am looking for unless I am shooting in the evening. I have picked up Portra 160 for afternoon shooting as it is really flexible and will allow me to shoot more open. I am going to start experimenting with that for daylight shooting. If you are using ISO 25 and getting away with it, the 160 should work perfectly for daylight.

You push film into the 1600s for daytime shooting? Does it get that dark in the evenings?

I will be downtown, close to West End. I am there with my wife and daughter so we will be knocking around town in the morning, naptime from around noon to 130/ 2pm, then out again until dinner time more than likely. I am looking for the best flexibility of indoor and outdoor shooting.

Awesome . Thanks for the feedback. I am going to pack some 120 Portra 160 for daytime shooting. The Gold and XP2 super will be my carry around for 35mm.

From what I have read, this film should be TSA xray carry on safe?

Dallas in November: It will either be in the 80s or the 30s, and it may be raining, or may not. :whistling:

I like that David. You could be a weather forecaster. We lived in Galveston once, and that prediction just about sums it up for that area of the world. I was shocked by the difference down here in St Pete, where you can pretty much count on 80 w/ clear skies nearly every day.

The summers are another matter though :[
