Can someone suggest a place to purchase Tri-X and TMY-2 400 at good prices in Canada?

Online or a brick and mortar store would work. I'm in Vancouver.

I can't say enough about Photo Central - darkroomcentral.ca

Beau Photo is in Van-groovy too but not sure what they're like these days.

I've been quite happy with the service I've had from Beau. I try not to order from the States unless I have to, just because Cananda Customs is so unpredictable and arbitary.
 
I order mainly from Beau (in Vancouver near Granville Island) and Darkroom Central (online). Beau tends to have a better selection of film sizes and types plus being geared more to the analogue photographer (not exclusively of course). Order more than 10 rolls of something and they give you student/professional pricing but shipping tends to be pricey. Darkroom Central is excellent, shipping is quick with a flat rate for anything (it was $10 an order but was supposed to go to $15 sometime this year) and they have a decent selection. I have shipped cross-border a couple of times, Customs seems to decide to tax one order but leave the next, regardless of value. Only problem is getting liquids shipped across borders (almost never allowed by most companies); you can do (and I have done it) is ship to one of the local PO locations just across the border. B&H had a free shipping to the US on some 120 Tri-X 320 (before it was discontinued), so I shipped a couple of packages to the local postal guy and had my brother pick it up, bring it across and hold it till the next time I visited. Had to pay $4-5 to the postal guy to hold my parcel but as it was $45 to ship to Canada, I wasn't too worried. Most of these postal guys have websites detailing what they charge and how to get stuff shipped to them (they emailed me when my parcel arrived).

Yes Freestyle has great shipping. Usually 5 work days to have it shipped to my door in Vancouver. And the exchange rate is reasonable enough.
 
FWIW, I have found 5-pack boxes of TXP in 120 all the time at Photo Central/darkroomcentral. Usually get a pack or two to try out....
 
The Camera Store in Calgary just brought in a bunch of Tri-X in 100ft rolls for $52 or $54. I snatched some up. It's been a long time since the Camera Store had so much film in stock. It seems film users are becoming harder to ignore.

I just ordered from justfilmsf - delivery to Ottawa was about 2.5 weeks. With shipping and all other related expenses, I saved about 25% over what I would have paid in Ottawa (if it were available in the first place). Selection is very good.

I did the order via email, and paid with paypal. USPS shipping was <$11 for a "small flat rate box" that holds around 22 roles of 120 (taken out of the cardboard box).

Note that you will have to pay HST + $5 brokerage fee when the package arrives.
 
For years I've sold Ilford but now am able to get some Kodak products. I keep Tri-X and T-Max in stock. I'm in Burlington, ON but you can see the prices on my website.

Henry's has TX in 100' rolls for $54 right now, which is excellent, especially given their normally high pricing on film.

For Torontonians Downtown Camera has quite reasonable prices on most films in rolls.
 
Silvano's in TO isn't bad, price/selection-wise relative to online ca options. FilmPlus is another TO option.

While film is still reasonably available, affordable dev/proof service is what's gotten pricey and hard to find in the GTA. No demand, no service that leads me to question somewhat the resurgence in film photography around the GTA.

I don't shoot a lot of colour negative film, but was pretty surprised that most of the places I called a couple of weeks ago in Toronto (except the rather costly TIW) told me that they don't run C-41 daily - it was a rather unpleasant surprise for me.
 
Welcome to the new reality. Silvano's putzed around for almost a week recently doing a half dozen 120 C41 and b&w. When pushed, they admit volume is such that weekly runs are now the norm. Interesting that TIW still promotes "in by 11 out by 3" service on their site.
 
Thank you very much for this thread, i will use it as a reference as i may plan to visit Canada this year by October, so i will check this thread regularly until i travel there if so.

Mostly the flight from here is going to Toronto, but i want to be in the Western states such as Alberta and British Columbia, Calgary and Vancouver are in my visit list if i can there.
 
Yup. It's obviously possible to get Kodak product cheaper elsewhere around the GTA. But as the processing bottleneck tightens, I'm shooting less and not burning thru my film stash as fast as I did when 2-day dev/proof service was cheaper and more accessible.
