Film processing prices?

I figured out that it will cost me $29.50 per roll of 16 (645) color print, for processing and printing at my local camera shop. That works out to $5.65 for processions and $1.50 per 4X6 print. (Second prints are $1.10 each.) Is this in line with what most of you are paying for color print work? Right now I'm switching to color transparency or B/W, processed by yours truly. Color transparency is $7.90 per roll by comparison. I know that film costs are rising but this price seems to restrict MF color print to working professionals. At least it does for me.

Look around and check prices. I used the internet and I found that Samys Camera had the best prices and good profession work. I have several others in the area as back up.

I used Dwanye's because of the price and found that it was not cost effective because I had to keep mailing the film back to be reprinted because the color was off.

There has to be a good and inexpensive photo processor in the Washington DC area.

Check into H&H Color lab - MUCH cheaper prices for negative processing and printing--and it's a pro lab (http://www.hhcolorlab.com). They do both color and B&W films from Kodak and Fuji.

If you want a good E-6 lab with very good prices, try Denver Digital (http://www.slideprinter.com). 120 film developing is only $4.95 and it is dip and dunk processing!

Do you have a motophoto nearby? I once used them in a pinch for 120 film, and they did a nice job for a reasonable price, believe it or not. Each store is a franchise, but it could be worth a call.

Also, I think I've heard Walmart has a send-out service for 120 film.

My local pro place charges 2.99 for a roll of 120 color neg and .50$ for each 4x5 test print.

I can suggest this while not for everyone.
I kept my eyes open for a Jobo 1500 processor as the prices are almost give aways right now. Please note that Jobo is now out of business and spare parts may be hard to come by, but the machine is built like a tank and should last a long time if taken care of, i.e. lube etc...

I by chance found a Jobo 2300 ATL processor that was used by a police crime lab. Used 3 times, purchased brand new for $17,000 with the Water panel and extra tanks. It was on a private State Auction some 600 miles away from me. It bid for it and $600 later my son and I were on our way.
I can't tell you how happy I am with this move.

Again, not for everyone but I strongly suggest you google things like Jobo State Auction... etc... and you may be surprised at what you find.

I process my own B&W so I haven't priced lately. But $30 for a roll of color 120 sounds just about NUTS! Like they're trying to price themselves out of that portion of business.

Walmart. Send out envelopes. Prints at time of developing up to 5x7. Affordable. They will also accept E-6 at slightly higher developing costs.

With prices like that, no wonder folks are getting out of the processing business.

I just received processing back from "Holland Photo" in Austin, TX.

There were 7 C-41 and 2 E-6, and only cost $78 (including UPS shipping).

They use only dip/dunk machines, and can cut/sleeve your 120 film for you in Print File sleeves! I sent only 5 sleeves, and only charged $1/sleeve for the rest!

Everything top-notch with these guys, excellent communication/customer service, and best prices to be found.

check out their pricing, its pretty good! all dip n' dunk processing too.

I believe that all of the services that they offer through their website available through mail-order.

I've been sending them my E-6(135-4x5) and c-41(135-8x10) films, and they quality has been top-notch!

they use fuji chemistry btw, not sure if that makes too much of a difference.
