the sprocket wheel that drives the film is supposed to move eight sprockets for each frame. If it is not, it is not driving the film through far enough which means it is slipping.
Which sucks, because that's usually a job for a repair person. You can possibly reduce the tendency for it to slip, if that is what it is doing, but turning the rewind lever backwards to loosen up the film in the cannister, but this can only be viewed as a stop-gap.
When my Leica CL started doing this I, very sadly, replaced it because it was pretty worn anyway.
