Well despite the fact that this whole article or whatever you call it is really short and a little bit sarcastic, I still don't get how it's faster to develop a list or simply talking about the fact that it's really a C-41 film so labs can process it in 3 minutes? Or maybe they mean because other black-and-white films might not be able to be processed it normal labs and have to be sent out taking days or weeks instead 1 hour?

Yeah, I think they meant it's faster to have developed.

Film is not dead. You said it was, but it is demonstrably not true.

It's pretty obvious that it has developed a niche following and is a hobby in and of itself.

Like amateur astronomy, model rockets, pottery, whatever. Couch potatoes are not into those sorts of thing either, but it doesn't mean those hobbies are dead. You don't go into Walmart looking for a potter's wheel or a Nagler Type 6. You go to a specialized store or shop online.

Keep in mind film gets the uptick from professional use. If there is a demand then someone will supply.

I feel there is plenty of reason for hope, my biggest fear is one of the big two falling before a stable long term lower level can be established either due to inability to down scale (K?) or loss of interest in a tiny part of their business (F?).

Thanks guys, Ken I did really like that quote in the article it reminds me a lot of what I love about film. It sounds daft but simple things like the large flat shape made vinyl much more attractive than anything which came after it, having something physical one can touch and hold and which doesn't degrade, sounds familiar doesn't it. One of the guys I used to work with chucked in his engineering career to open a traditional record shop, I really felt for him and the huge risk he took but it seems to have paid off. Man I would love to do something like that with film photography.

I've always liked Oasis but never had one of their vinyl records, I do have dark side of the moon on vinyl though.

My mom has the original Woodstock on vinyl she got new
