Film Holder Help

Howdy! I recently purchased a film holder from the place of auctions only to realize - whoops - no dark slides! I'm wondering how universal these are? The holder is a fidelity, but if I got a replacement darkslide from a different brand of holder, should it work?

I would take measurements and confirm used slides will work with your holders before you buy. Last year I bought a stack of 5x7 dark slides for some slideless holders I had and learned the hard way that, at least with Fidelity and Lisco 5x7 holders, the length and width of the slides are not universal or interchangeable. Some were too wide to fit and some were to short to use.

I purchased a big box of used Fidelity and Lisco 8x10 film holders from a lady whose father had passed away. A couple of them didn't have dark slides so I purchased some off Ebay and they ended up being too wide.

Like Jonathan says, take measurements.

Thanks for the info and welcome! I was able to cancel the order, so I'm avoiding the issue. Just got a 45E with a SK Xenar 210 6.1 for just over a hundred. Excited to break into LF! Just need holders. Going to try and pick up a grafmatic.

Calumet still sells new replacement dark slides.

I have several 4x5 plate holders with slides which arrived mixed in with film holder buys over the last year or so. I don't intend to shoot plates for now. I can supply dimensions, maker, holder fit.... Let me know if it will help. (M.P.P.'s Graphlex's and un named.)
