I see lot of old half plate cameras for sale at fleaBay. I also see that new quarter plate and whole plate film is still being offered for sale. For some reason half plate is not cut or I could not find it. I don´t want to my own, can I buy it from somewhere?

Adox seem to supply more sizes than anyone else... although the listing on Ag photographic doesn't include half plate. Try contavting ADOX - it is difficult to believe they would cut sizes as obscure as 10 X 18cm and 12 X 15cm and not half plate!

Let us know what they say...

Half plate may also be available from the annual Ilford ULF order.

Sadly not. I did ask, but Simon Galley said there were no plans for it this time. Maybe next year.

The Ilford order for ULF closed a few weeks ago, so you have missed this years production run.

Ilford were at one time offering to make sheets in what ever quantity people wanted.

Hopefully, the same offer will be open next year too and then you’re in business

I asked Simon in April; he said "Really sorry no plans for FP4+ half plate this time, I will put it on the next one."

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Hi verney - Every year about May Ilford announces their ultra large format film special. You should see the announcement here on APUG. You can order as many boxes as you would like, there is no longer a minimum order during the special order period. So if you were the only one ordering 2 boxes of FP4+ half plate film that would be fine. Ilford has been very accommodating to ULFF photographers. You just have to remember to look for the announcements in the spring. My advice is to order enough film for at least 1 to 1 1/2 years worth of photographing, since the special order is once a year.

Hi verney

Sorry I was thinking of whole plate. Since half plate is 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" is close to 5x7 film your best bet might be cutting 5x7 film down. I know a lot of photographers shooting 4x10 cut down 8x10. I've been involved in the Ilford ULF program and I don't usually get requests for the unusual sizes. The last few years I've seen mostly the typical sizes.
