Film density seems high (T-Max 100/dev)

Freaks out my scanner sometimes. Seems like contrast and density are too high when developed at 68 deg. F (stock dev. solution dil 1:1 with water) for the suggested time. I'm wondering if I should drop the temp 2 deg F or so?
Agitation is 3 inversions every 30 seconds.

Do the negs look normal when proofed or printed at your normal printing times and filters?

If so, they are normally exposed and developed. If not, they are not.

I'd start there, then once you are set, worry about how to tweak things to optimize for scanning...and when you get there, you can ask at Hybrid Photo dot org.

However, the rule of thumb is to shoot and develop for a neg that is optimized for darkroom printing, unless there is absolutely no chance in hell you will ever print the negative optically. It is generally easier to scan a neg that is optimized for the darkroom than to print a neg that is optimized for scanning.

If your negatives are too dense in highlight regions, such that textured whites are featureless and blown out, you've overdeveloped.

While you can vary temperature, probably easier and more repeatable to work at a temp you can easily maintain constant in your darkroom, and decrease development time instead. Ditto agitation; pick a
regimen and stick with it, and change your times.
