Hi!
Looking for recommendations for buying a film cutter for both 35 and 120 film, available in the EU.

Too scary to cut with scissors.

Thanks!

Usually, a film slitter is designed to cut only one size of film, however many slitters are designed to create different rolls of film -- for example, creating a Minox and a 16mm roll of film from 35mm at the same time. Others are adjustable so that it can create a 16mm roll and then a Minox roll -- after being adjusted.

Scissors are a waste of time.

Are you talking about slitting film along the length or cutting across the shorter dimension as when making slides?

It’s to put the film in negative sleeves after developing. Not lengthwise!

That JJC cutter I mentioned above in #3 does this flawlessly.

I found this:
  • Available at Fripers.ie, which offers the JJC SFC-1 Slide Film Cutter with LED
  • Fotoaparatas.eu lists the JJC SFC-1 among its accessories for film
  • Cameranu.be stocks the JJC SFC-1 Slide Film Cutter
  • While the UK is no longer part of the EU, several UK-based retailers, such as GadgetBag and eBay sellers, offer the cutter and ship to EU countries

This is what I have used for years - the Matin film cutter: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152827898477
It works well for me, although the thumb wheel only worked for the first couple of years.
The eBay UK was the closest source to Sweden that I could find a listing for.
This is how it appears on the Amazon.ca listing:

I have the Matin one. It works really well if you get a good copy. I’ve gone thru a few. Quality control seems to be an issue.

I have the Matin one. To be frank, it’s junk. Cuts OK, but the wheel to advance the film stopped working within the first 10 or 15 rolls.

I’ve just ordered the JJC one based on this thread.

FWIW, I think the thumb wheel is merely a convenience, and I don't really miss it.
The real advantage of these sort of things is that they hold the film straight, make it easy to see where to cut, and then make it easy to make a sharp and straight cut.
The JJC alternative also looks interesting. I'm not sure how important it is that that seems to use USB-C for the illumination.

Hi, I just sat down to order.

The one with included illumination will be my choice, as I don't own a light table. The light source and straight cutting edge seem perfect to me.
