Dear APUG people,

Does somebody out there know a good alternative for the famous and now discontinued KODAK FILM CLEANER?

Thank you all,

Philippe

Light Impresssions makes a good replacement, I don't remember the name offhand, but it works quite well.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does it precicely do?

It is used for cleaning gunk off negatives/transparencies. For example, I had a number of transparencies that got infected with mold after our winter rains earlier this year. I used the Light Impressions product to clean them up.

I have the Edwal version. Is it the same?

Everclear 120 proof 100% grain alcohol and a lint free cloth...

From Anchell's Darkroom Cookbook

Ammonia, 28% concentrated 5 ml
Distilled water 95 ml
Isopropyl alcohol to make 1 liter

listed as especially good for removing water spots.
