Anyone have a couple light tight 4x5 film boxes they would be willing to share?

Most modern boxes aren't the old three-piece with integral black layer; instead, many films (especially those coated or packaged by Foma, which is most of my experience) depend on a heavy black plastic bag similar to the ones used for enlarging paper, inside a two-layer box of ordinary pasteboard.

Send me your address I'll mail you a couple. If you process later in a lab, remind them to return the boxes to you with the developed film.

At least Ilford, Kodak and Fuji still use the nested boxes. Foma, as you mentioned does not. "Catlabs X" doesn't either (and therefore, I assue GP3 doesn't as well.) I have some Berger and some Adox, but honestly, I don't remember in either case.

Well, that explains it -- the last Kodak sheet film I opened was expired 320TXP used in 2004 or so. I've been using .EDU Ultra (relabeled Fomapan) since then.

I did just order a box each of Portra 160 and Ektachrome 100 in 4x5, so I'll be able to confirm soon.

Fred; I'll mail it tomorrow. Two 3-part nested boxes with three plastic sleeves inside for 4x5s. You'll get your film returned in their own sleeves but these three are some extras for whatever. The boxes have mailing labels from CRC in NYC where I had film developed before. They do good work. Dip and dunk and will push and pull as well. I've also used North Coast Photo in Carlsbad, California. Good luck.

Perfect Alan, thanks again. If you want reimbursed for postage let me know but be assured I pay things forward when I get the chance. My studio days were between '78 - '93 and it seemed then people were very hesitant to do favors or offer instruction for fear of competition. I was never that way, helped competitors anytime they needed it. (Not that we are or I have any competitors now being a semi retire criminal defense attorney.) Photographers now however seem more likely to help others when they get the chance. (Or am I just a lot older !??)
Enjoy the art, Fred
