Has anyone used Ferrous Sulfate Developer for anything other than collodion? For example . . . standard b/w films & b/w papers? If so, how were your results? Many thanks in advance.
I have used it to develop regular film. The problem with its use is that I does not produce anything near full emulsion speed. This is the main reason why its use was replaced by organic developing agents. Mason discusses the use of vanadium compounds as developing agents. They are more stable, produce better speed and can be easily regenerated by electrolysis. The problem with their use is the removal of development produces such as bromide from the solution.
