Ferric Ammonium Oxalate for Ziatypes

Does anyone here mix their own FAO from powder? The only info I have found on the procedure is to mix 10 grams FAO with 25ml of water. I've read nothing about it going into solution easily.

Secondly, my brother sold his scale so I need a rec for a small inexpensive one.

I mix my own Fao each time I need some more. It is easy to mix , you could use warm water at 38°C to get quicker dilution . But even at normal temp you 'll get total dilution in 30 minutes.

for the scale , I saw some on ebay for few bucks.

Wayne, just did the same thing recently and like Nze says it will go into solution after a short time or use warmer water to speed it up. I try to make mine up in advance (say 24 hrs) so it is not an issue. I picked up a nice 250g digital scale, sorry don't have the web address right now..but if you do a serach here you can find it...check for one of David G post, it is the same model he has. Good luck
