Ferrania Eura... never heard of Italian Holga?

Hi guys!
A while ago I saw a shot made by a friend with a nice simple camera: the Ferrania Eura. I Had to get it.... and was lucky: for about six euros I got a very nice one, with case, flash and manuals. This one (differently from Holga, has no vignetting)

I've got one too.

But there is a weird sister-model, with an incorporated flash, the Euralux:

I had one, that I modified (there is a plastic frame you can remove, and then you have to reglue a part to put it back in working order) and it was sort of cool, although as my friend whom I gave it to, said: no Holga effect. At least not as obvious.

Never heard of it, but image quality looks surprisingly good. I began to enjoy these simple cameras too recently...

Ferrania did some very nice cameras.
Not only in terms of how they look, but also their specs.
I didn't know about the Euralux and hadn't seen one.

Very nice, from your samples much better than a Holga. I have an Agfa Isoly but it is 4X4 and shoots 16 exposures on a 120 roll. Mine happens to be the top of that line with a 3 element f3.9, 60mm lens and 4 speed +B shutter but Agfa also made much simpler cameras in the Isoly line that strangely cost more than the fancy models. I've wanted to have one of the 6X6 Isolys with the simple f8 lens but cheese and crackers they have become cult cameras and people are asking crazy prices on the bay last time I checked.

I've an Agfa Isoly III too... it's the top of the line, with apotar (I can't check it now) lens. It's in pristine conditions but...... shutter doesn't work and a repair man told me he couldn't repair it because of missing parts....
It's a pity, because I'd like to shot 4x4 very much..... and that seems a very nice shooter...

You've made a believer out of me! Congratulations, those shots are remarkable, and your compositional abilities are superb. Square and landscape are hard to do, and you nailed it.

Two questions, if I may. Were you using a tripod? And the amazing depth of field on the shots....were these shot at infinity or using hyper focal focusing?

Thanks! I went back to film just to focus myself more on subjects and composition, as a slower approach let me think more properly on what I'm doing.

Regarding these shots, are all made handheld (in fact, I missed a couple of shots because these were blurred as the shooting speed is quite low and shutter button(the red one) is located on the lens....). Focus (I don't really know if the focus ring is really effective) was almost always on hyperfocal (and aperture is small anyway)....

Btw. as usual I didn't apply any sharpening after scanning. Just adjusted the light levels.

Yep... that is the inside part of the leather-like case.....

The Bencini cameras are mostly like Holga, Eura or other simple cameras but the bodies... were made in die cast aluminium. not in plastic or bakelite.

yeah, they ( bencinis ) were works of art ! shiny space age, futuristic things of beauty !
i wish 127 film were still around, i'd own a comet iii !!

jnanian, I have just created another thread, where you can find 127 slide film ready to buy from a German distributor. Presumably it should be available in the US sooner or later.

Jnanian I have a couple of Bencini Koroll... and these use 120 film..... Gonna test one sooner or later...
