Anyone in USA fix FED-2 shutters? Mine came apart during a timing adjustment incident. and my schedule is such that I won't be able to fix it myself for quite some time

I don't know about Fedka. He put did a shutter replacement on my Fed-2. It took ages to get it back, and the shutter capped when I tested it w/ film. Sent it back, a month later I got it back, and it still capped. That little excursion cost me well over $225 for the repair and all the priority mail shipping back and forth. I sold the camera for $15 and bought a Bessa R. Never had any more troubles. So that's my recommendation, buy a Bessa R. Great little cameras w/ excellent meters.

Bessa R is quite a bit more expensive than a Fed2 though .

Why not just buy another Fed2 body.

Well I am, but this FED2 has sentimental value..one of the few things which survived our moving van fire. Silly, huh? I don't think it is a difficult repair. I just want to weigh the cost vs my time.

I have purchased two refurbished Leica III(b & c) from this guy on eBay. He is a retired Leica employee and he does the refurbs himself. He has an eBay post that says "completely overhaul all types of screw mount cameras" for $95.00 US. Maybe he does FSU screw mounts too. After my two purchases plus a lens I would use him to work on my Zorki's if he does. His name is Ulrich Fuchs. Here is the link to the repair on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leica-Leitz-Screw-Mount-Camera-Sevice-CLA-d-with-90-day-warranty-Wetzlar-/371185665001?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item566c63c3e9

A few years ago there was a guy in central Russia who repaired Russian cameras. He repaired one of my cameras. It was actually cheaper to ship the camera to him, have it repaired and shipped back than have the work done in the US. Can't remember his name now. A search of the net might find him. Russia is a good source for replacement shutter curtains. Check on ebay.
