rolleiflash and modify it to take radio triggers instead of flash bulb?
If not, how difficult is to install a radio trigger inside the battery box of rolleiflash? I may rip Yongnuo RF-603 and put it inside the battery box and solder the sync-cables permanently.
Almost anything is possible, if you're determined enough.
Probably the easiest way to do it would be to mount the radio trigger onto the reflector with leads through the bulb socket connecting the trigger's shoe to the sync circuit.
From other pictures of the Rolleiflash, it looks like the battery enclosure is metal, and that would probably interfere with the radio trigger's antenna if you put the trigger inside the battery case.
I will be happy to use the bulb socket and for that I may need a kind of adapter(I'm afraid that never existed till now) to connect the radio trigger and the sync-cable.
It depends on the flash sync from the camera. If the camera can do X-sync, no problem. If the camera does M-sync, the flash will trigger before the shutter is open.
It seems to me that this is not the way to go. The Rolleiflash does bayonet easily into the front of your camera but the reflector is large and awkward. Why not use a flash bracket that attaches on the bottom of the camera via the tripod socket, one with a hot shoe on top?
I purchased a Rolleiflash in about 1956 to go with my Rolleiflex and it is the only Rollei accessory I actually hated. The flash is too near the lens to get good flash photos, the shadows are terrible. The Rolliemeter eye-level focus gizmo was delicate but worked swell and the 35mm adapter is great. I even had a panoramic gizmo that worked very well. It's still very hard to beat a Rollie for some things.
Hey sjauch, nice work with flash on a rolleiflex.
I have a rolleimagic (bayonet 2) and want to attach a flash to it.
I have a rolleiflash (bayonet 1) and a Canon 580EXii
Am at a loss of how to attach either.
Any ideas/advice would be great.
Might be an idea to see if you could just mount a hot shoe to the camera and wire it tot eh contacts... or a cold shoe and a PC jack? Could give you some flexibility.
Kind of fun to shoot with a Diana or Brownie that's triggering a bunch of Speedo packs & heads...
