Hello friends,

recently I have found some film holders made by Linhof, of that plate-film double-sided variety, in 6 1/2 x 9 cm size. I can buy them for not too much, in order to use with my new Century Graphic that did not arrive to me yet - arrrrgh, the Russian Post  To my eye, not accustomed yet to small holders and backs, these holders look quite strange - and possibly not compatible with Graphic backs, too. Am I wrong? The holders have a strange ridge around the film frame, and there is no locating ridge on a top short side, so usual for all 4x5 Graphic holders. These holders were designed for Linhof small Technikas, equipped with an international Graflok back, right? But why do they look so unusual to me?

It is a plate and film holder, which has an spring loaded base-plate to allow both plates and film to sit at the correct distance. These are fantastic for plates, but it can be a real pain to load film in them as the base-plate needs to be pushed down as you slide the film in. That little lever on the side is for ejecting plates, however it doen't work very well with film.

These should fit in a graflock or other "international" back, although since they are thicker than regular holders so they will strain the springs a bit. If you can get regular holders I suspect you will be happier, at least when you load them.

Yes, I have dealt with this kind of holders already - in 9x12cm format, and they were not good for film at all  But these are 61/2x9cm, and I doubt that this size of Graphic holders is widely available for purchase today... and these holders are already in Moscow, being sold inexpensively. The compatibility with standart 2x3 Graphic back is the main issue that really bothers me - I still have got no back where I could put the holder to try if it fits

Cheers from Moscow,
Zhenya
